Hola from Mexico!

Spring break is over and that means 3^rd trimester starts….
 

It is so sad that we could only get flights from Monday to Monday… because I missed the one day of school. My classes this tri are

I am pretty excited to start my last Trimester at a American High school, but I am also very sad, because that means my adventure is almost over.

Anyways Mexico was so much fun! I was so glad to get out of the snow and to finally have over 10 °C. In Minneapolis there is still a lot of snow, so I was so ready to see the sun again.

The flight from Minneapolis to Cabo San Lucas takes like 3.30-4 h so not as bad as the flight over to America. Mexico is in the same time zone as California so we won 2 hours. We arrived in Cabo San Lucas and you got out of the plane and it was perfect J Here were like 27-31 °C so perfect for me! After a 45 min drive to the hotel, we got our swimsuits out of the suitcase and went right to the beach. By the way I used the suitcase I had for 1 year for 1 week, just in case it gets cold…or I need more than 3 t-shirts a day.

In the evening we often went downtown to eat something and I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD!!! Throughout the week we went paddle boarding twice, swan in the ocean, went on a dinner cruise and we relaxed and tanned a lot. Paddle boarding is like paddling but you stand/squat/sit/lay on a big surfboard. It is a lot of fun, but it sucks when the wind is blowing the wrong direction. 

Lying at the beach is always fun and the water was pretty cold but nice to cool down. Cabo San lucas has one coast to the pacific but the waves are too high, so I couldn´t go in there to actually swim, but I can say my feet and my butt where in the pacific and not a lot of you guys can say that!

What is a vacation without a burned body? I almost made it through the whole week without a burned part, but I thought that would be boring, so I burned the last day, while we were in the pool. Now I am sitting in the plane and hope that we don’t crash….

I also hope that they let me back in the United States….. I send my visa and everything to YFU and they send it to the government and it shouldn´t be a problem but who knows…? At the airport in Mexico they wanted to see special forms and something we filled out in the internet and we didn´t do all of it…., but they let me on the plane so it shouldn’t be a problem. 

I also hope that we are able to arrive at the airport in Minneapolis, because we were suppose to get another 4-7 inches of snow and a bad wind.

 

Anyways when I post that on my blog than you know that I am home and not frozen….

I will go to bed now because it was a long and busy day for me and I need to wake up early again

Spring break

The Target Center

Sorry guys that I was a bit offline, but I had so much going on, so I couldn’t find a few minutes to write something…. But now I have time because it is SPRINGBREAK.

For the people in Minnesota it is more a winter wonderland break, because we got again 30 cm of snow and that’s why we had our first snow day (snow day=no school, because it is too hard to get to school). In my school district It was the first snow day for 5 years and everybody was happy about it, but it was our final week, so the finals got pushed back and that means more work on the last days before spring break.

On Monday we are going to fly to Cabo san lucas in mexico and I am so excited, because it means a change from -6 to 30 °C. 

My last weeks were busy and here a short summary:

Timberwolves in action

I was at a Timberwolves basketball game and after it we went right away to Rob’s hockey game. It was a packed sport, but not so successful… The Minnesota Timberwolves had a really good game and were ahead the whole time, but lost 99-100. Rob´s team played good, but they lost too.

The girls swim team is suppose to time at boys home meets, so the boys had their True team and section meet and I had a fun time, because I timed with my friends and it was nice and warm at the pool.  After it the boys invited us to come over to a captain’s house to watch a movie and it was fun to hang out with everybody.

Prom is coming closer, so I started to try on some dresses and some are super nice, but some OMG no way that I am going to wear it! I kind of know what I want, but still I am open for everything. Tomorrow I will go to Mall of America (biggest mall in America) and me and my friend will look for more dresses. I will probably take some pictures and put them online.

3 days ago we had a spring sport meeting and I decided to play lacrosse with my friend Brittany. I got a stick and the strings are blue and orange. I am so excited to finally play!!!

Score: 99-100

The finals on Wednesday and Thursday were kind of hard, because all the teacher had us write tests the same week, so on Wednesday I had a test or a final every hour and I can tell you that’s not fun.

So for Mexico…

YES it’s safe

YES I will use sun cream

NO I won’t drink water

YES I will get back into the country

and YES we will have a good time

so you guys don´t have any reasons to be worried

school, skiing and other stuff

So the whole break is over and the school madness stated after only 1 ½ weeks…. 

My trimester right now is pretty hard. I don´t know if I already told you about my classes but here again.

My schedule is

1^st Yearbook

2^nd calculus

3^rd English 12^th grade

4^th Biology

5^th American Sign Language

I need to do a lot of homework for each of these classes and that’s why I can´t swim after school. My sister Liz and I decided to go to a fitness studio before school. It sounds crazy but it is actually really fun, because you are full of energy when you get to school. It is kind of hard to wake up so early, but exercises are really fun and good for your body. During the last weeks without swimming and other sport I got a “chubby” and I want to be in good shape, when the spring season is going to start.

Last week we had to time for the boys swim and dive team. It’s the girls captain´s job to find enough timer (at least 7) and at the end we were over 16 so that we were able to time in groups and that made the whole meet not so boring.

Over New Year we were at the cabin ice fishing and skiing. We drove up there and went to a close and had all the gear with us. I was surprised because on the first day I fall only 3 times (first downhill). After this everything went very well. The next morning I woke up I felt that I did something the other day…. But the cure is to keep on and do more sport. That’s why we went skiing again. It was almost -18° C outside and we were still skiing although we made a bit more hot chocolate breaks. 

Manakato vs. Providence

Last weekend we were in Mankato for a hockey weekend. We stayed in a Hilton hotel with really nice room service. After having dinner in the bed we went to a hockey collage hockey game. It was really fun although there was a wired fan who cheered like crazy. For us it was hilarious, because she was drunk, but at the end we just wanted the other team to score to see how she reacts.

In the morning we had breakfast (not in the bed) and went to another home and drove back home. 

And a new week started with a lot of other stuff that keeps me busy.

Christmas is over

I heard that you all celebrated Christmas and that means the world didn`t collapse on the 21<sup>st</sup> of December. We really had a plan in case something would happen. If the electricity wouldn’t work than we couldn`t call each other and then we would go up to the cabin. Luckily nothing happened and we were able to celebrate Christmas up in Bemidji. 

On the 22^nd of December we drove 4 hours up to a town called Bemidji, because we wanted to celebrate the holiday with our family and our grandparents. We had all the gifts and the gifts we needed in the back of our car and trust me we are were 4 girls in a car and we take a lot of random stuff with us. On the way we watched batman 1 and we saw some deer and eagles, because we drove through a lot of white nature. In Bemidji the temperature was between – 7 and -18 degrees. One day we went down to the Bemidji Lake and we were walking on it. We The day before Christmas we went to a mall to buy the rest of our gifts and we made a picture with Santa. After wrapping all the gifts we decided to get a bit crazy so Rob and Paul took out their skies and we put a robe behind the car and we were driving through the snow. The girls were sitting in the back of the car and we took pictures and videos. It was really fun and after it we went back into the house and ate cookies and other stuff, because we had a lot of good food at the house.  

On Christmas day we went to the church and we sang “Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht” and “Ihr kinderlein kommet” in English. It was a bit wired to sing it without the regular lyrics. Back home we had fondue and potatoes. In the evening we opened all the gifts and everybody was happy.

We left cookies out, because Santa should come over night. In the morning Sam woke us up (in a really nice way=starring at us, laughing and kicking me out of the bed). We went up to the fireplace and found little gifts.

We left at the same day and drove back home. We were starving (verhungern), but nothing was open, so our Christmas day lunch was a gas station pizza. Back home we cooked a dinner and went over to a friend to watch a movie.

During the holidays I have to read the perk of being a wallflower and …..that`s everything I need to do.

Over New Year we will go skiing and I am excited, because I wasn´t skiing for like 8 years….so I hope that my body is fine when I come home in 2013.

p.s. we got a whole bunch of christmas card, because it is american tradition, that you send some to other families with a letter what your family did during the past year and that you get some from other families.
